Extrapolation as a Way to Optimize Knowledge

The paper argues that it is necessary to include into a special course of “Philosophy of Science” a discussion of the method of extrapolation as a transfer of knowledge from one subject area to another. The method is of significance in its own right, and is also a part of inductive methods and modeling. The paper examines the logical and methodological foundations of extrapolation and its application in particular sciences and social forecasting.
