Founded at Columbia University by Frederick J. E. Woodbridge and J. McKeen Cattell

Frederick J. E. Woodbridge, Founding Editor

The Journal of Philosophy, Psychology and Scientific Methods was established in 1904 as a biweekly publication. The first issue announced that it was to be "conducted on the lines of a German 'Centralblatt' containing short articles, preliminary reports, discussions, abstracts, reviews, and notes." Frequent publication permitted "quick publication of shorter contributions, prompt reviews of the literature and timely discussions ... in philosophical and psychological subjects." Since 1921 it has been published as The Journal of Philosophy.
