Semiotics 2014 contains a selection of revised papers originally presented to the 39th annual meeting of the Semiotic Society of America, held in October 2014. The Semiotic Society of America is an interdisciplinary professional organization that supports innovative scholarship linking analytical and critical approaches to the postmodern world. Each year it sponsors a meeting organized around a particular theme, and each conference volume is based on the theme of the conference. The theme of this meeting was "The Semiotics of Paradox".
