"Why Semiotics?"

Jamin Pelkey and Leonard G. Sbrocchi, Editors

Semiotics 2013 contains an annotated plenary address presented to the Oregon Conference on Biosemiotics and Culture, held in May 2013 and a selection of revised papers originally presented to the 38th annual meeting of the Semiotic Society of America, held in October 2013. The Semiotic Society of America is an interdisciplinary professional organization that supports innovative scholarship linking analytical and critical approaches to the postmodern world. Each year it sponsors a meeting organized around a particular theme, and each conference volume is based on the theme of the conference. The theme of this meeting was "Why Semiotics?". It attracted a wide gamut of approaches from several disciplines. Contributors include Vincent Colapietro, John Deely, David Pfeifer, Myrdene Anderson, Farouk Seif, Donna West, and many others.
