Semiotics 2003 contains the proceedings of the 28th annnual meeting of the Semiotic Society of America, held in October 2003. The Semiotic Society of America is an interdisciplinary professional organization that supports innovative scholarship linking analytical and critical approaches to the postmodern world. Each year it sponsors a meeting organized around a particular theme, and each conference volume is based on the theme of the conference. The theme of this meeting was "Semiotics and National Identity". It attracted a wide gamut of approaches from several disciplines. Contributors include Eugen Baer, Vincent Colapietro, Marcel Danesi, Susan Petrilli, Augusto Ponzio, Roland Posner, and many others.
