Journal of Islamic Philosophy

An Academic Forum for the Study of Islamic Philosophy

Aaron Spevack, Editor-in-Chief

The Journal of Islamic Philosophy is dedicated to the academic study of Islamic philosophy. It provides a peer-reviewed English language forum for the philosophical discussion of topics in Islamic thought. Classical Islamic philosophy is re-examined with a new focus: the underlying issues in the ethical, metaphysical, existential, and epistemological challenges from other philosophical traditions are explored within an Islamic context.

  • This journal serves as an impetus toward renewal of a robust spirit of advanced Islamic philosophical discourse and provides an introduction to this rich tradition.

"There has been a growing recognition of the influence of Islam's intellectual legacy on the development of ideas in the West. For this legacy has much to to say about the perennial problems of philosophy. .... A journal devoted to Islamic philosophy is certainly welcome."
      — Michael Marmura, University of Toronto
