Colloquium on Violence and Religion (COV&R)
The International Association of Scholars of Mimetic Theory
The Colloquium on Violence and Religion (COV&R) is dedicated to the exploration, criticism, and development of René Girard‘s mimetic model of the relationship between violence and religion in the genesis and maintenance of culture. Founded in 1990, COV&R is concerned with questions of research and application. Scholars from diverse fields and theoretical orientations are invited to participate in its conferences and publications.
Membership includes a digital subscription to Contagion: Journal of Violence, Mimesis, and Culture through JSTOR (members may request a print copy by email if they are unable to access the journal electronically) and access to COV&R's quarterly Bulletin. The Bulletin contains the Bibliography of Literature on the Mimetic Theory, book reviews, information on the annual conference, and announcements.
