Problems posed by manipulation and by luck have attracted a lot of attention in the literature on free will and moral responsibility. Problems of the former kind are often raised as objections to compatibilist views or to compatibilism in general, and problems of the latter kind are featured in some familiar objections to typical libertarian views. In this article, I suggest that a key ingredient in a solution to a much-discussed problem posed by some cases of manipulation sheds light on a route to solving the problem posed by luck that is at issue here.
