Fifty Years of The Review of Metaphysics on CD-ROM
Scholars and librarians will be astonished by the power and accessibility of this database. A hypertext table of contents provides an efficient means to navigate to any item in any issue with just a few mouse clicks, while the powerful VIEWS® search engine can provide answers to a variety of questions in seconds. Every heading in the table of contents is a hypertext link to its corresponding text. Headings are also fully expandable. Clicking on the "+" next to a particular volume will display the issues in that volume, and clicking on the "+" next to a particular issue will display all the articles in that issue. Click on one of the articles itself and the hypertext link in the title takes you to the full-text display of that article. Navigation to a particular segment of text requires only a few mouse clicks. Once you are viewing the full text, you can scroll to read the text just as you would in the print version. This CD-ROM is an affordable way to establish, complete, or supplement the print collection. The cost is just a fraction of what it would cost to purchase all of the back issues in print. entire fifty year collection (1947 to 1997) of The Review of Metaphysics
is now available on a single CD-ROM. The complete text of each issue,
including articles, book reviews, lists of philosophy dissertations completed
in the U.S. and Canada, and tables of contents and abstracts from other
major philosophy journals, will be provided in a fully searchable format.
The collection provides a unique overview of the content and directions
of American philosophy since the Second World War.
