The Semiotic Society of America (SSA) is an interdisciplinary professional organization serving a diverse community of scholars with common interests in the study of signs and sign-systems. Founded in 1976, the Society has supported innovative scholarship linking analytical and critical approaches to the postmodern world. Sign theories connect the fine arts, literary criticism, linguistics, communication, pedagogy, philosophy, mathematics, law, the human and social sciences, and technology disciplines. More information about the Society and its activities is available at the Semiotic Society of America website.

Annual membership in SSA includes a subscription to The American Journal of Semiotics, an international peer-reviewed research publication.
