International Journal of Applied Philosophy
The International Journal of Applied Philosophy is committed to the view that philosophy can and should be brought to bear upon the practical issues of life. Accordingly, this peer-reviewed journal publishes philosophical articles dealing with practical issues in business, education, the environment, government, health care, law, psychology, and science. Recent issues have included discussions of affirmative action, alcohol abuse on college campuses, animal rights, business ethics, gambling, journalism ethics, just-war theory, liberalism, medical ethics, retribution, terrorism, and torture. The journal's coverage of practical issues has attracted wide attention, including articles in the November 26, 2006 and August 10, 2002 issues of The New York Times. The journal articles discussed in the Times stories, The Rights and Wrongs of Rudeness and The Ethics of Gossiping, are freely available. Electronic access to the International Journal of Applied Philosophy is provided through POIESIS: Philosophy Online Serials, and the fulltext of all issues published since 1992 (volume 7-present) is available to libraries that subscribe both to the journal and POIESIS.
