Conference Exhibits
The Philosophy Documentation Center participates in book exhibits at several major conferences
each academic year. For 2007-2008 we will exhibit at meetings of the Society for Business Ethics (Aug.2-5,
2007), Society for Phenomenology and Existential Philosophy (Nov.8-11, 2007), American Catholic
Philosophical Association (Nov.9-11, 2007), American Philosophical Association-Eastern Division
(Dec.27-30, 2007), Association for Practical and Professional Ethics (Feb.21-24, 2008), American
Philosophical Association-Pacific Division (March 19-22, 2008), and American Philosophical
Association-Central Division (April 17-20, 2008). We will also participate in displays at meetings
of the North American Society for Social Philosophy, Semiotic Society of America, Hegel Society of
America, and the Radical Philosophy Association.
At each meeting of the American
Philosophical Association the PDC hosts a large journal display, including over 70 journals from many
different publishers. These displays offer editors and publishers a
reliable way to present their journals to thousands of colleagues and
potential subscribers at a fraction of the cost of renting and manning
exhibition space. They also give potential authors, reviewers, and
department library representatives an opportunity to browse these journal.
We can
accept any subscription requests on the spot and pass these on to each
journal after the meeting. We also produce a special journal catalog for these
meetings that
includes contact information and pricing for all participating titles. A sample of a recent catalog is available
here. Our
prices are modest, and both multi-meeting and multi-title discounts are
available. You can download a journal exhibit registration form here.
Publishers can also have their books, DVDs, or other products displayed
at these meetings. We reserve prime booth space at all events,
and books are displayed in a combined PDC booth. Trained staff are
present to represent your titles and your company in an effective and
professional manner. We will distribute publishers' catalogs and title information,
accept orders, gather lists of people wishing to review particular titles,
and provide a convenient meeting place for authors and publisher representatives.
Publishers whose books have been displayed in the past include: Editions
Rodopi, Purdue University Press, Harvard University Press, St. Martin's Press, Transaction Publishers,
Verso, University of North Carolina Press, St. Augustine Press, University
of Pittsburgh Press, Walter de Gruyter, and Humana Press. You can
download a book exhibit registration form here.
There are several affordable options available for displaying journals
and books at philosophy and library meetings. The Center offers low prices,
multi-meeting discounts, and multi-title discounts. Single titles may
be displayed or an entire book rack(s) can be reserved to display multiple
titles.
