Augustinian Studies
Augustinian Studies is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal devoted to the study of the life, teachings, and influence of Augustine of Hippo. It publishes articles from a variety of disciplines and perspectives including philosophy, theology, and history, as well as article-length reviews of appropriate publications. Each volume includes the annual Saint Augustine Lecture delivered at Villanova University. Although the primary focus of the journal is the study of Augustine himself, articles illuminating aspects of Augustinian studies more broadly conceived are also included when they contribute to the understanding of Augustine's life or thought. Electronic access to Augustinian Studies is provided through POIESIS: Philosophy Online Serials, and the fulltext of all issues published since 1970 (volume 1-present) is available to libraries that subscribe both to the journal and POIESIS. Tables of contents for these issues, searchable by author and title, are freely available through POIESIS to visitors who register here. Abstracts and tables of contents are available in EBSCO's Current Abstracts. Work on the remaining back issue has been completed and it will be made available as quickly as possible. Tables of contents for the most recent ten volumes are also available here. Augustinian Studies is indexed in Academic Search Premier, L'Année philologique, ArticleFirst, Catholic Periodical and Literature Index, Current Abstracts, Expanded Academic ASAP, Index Philosophicus, InfoTrack OneFile, International Bibliography of Periodical Literature (IBZ), International Bibliography of Book Reviews of Scholarly Literature (IBR), International Philosophical Bibliography, Periodicals Index Online, Philosopher's Index, and Religious and Theological Abstracts. In 1999 Augustinian Studies published a special double issue (Volume 30, No.2) containing important new essays on Augustine's City of God. This rich and varied collection is available in a special cloth edition titled History, Apocalypse, and the Secular Imagination, New Essays on Augustine's City of God. Information for authors regarding submissions is available here.
